Blue celestina geode (20kg) from Madagascar
PUMI2461
This 20 kg geode of celestite is of exceptional gem quality and represents a remarkable mineral find from Madagascar. Celestites are primarily extracted from the Sakoany region, located in the Mahajanga province of Madagascar. This region is renowned for its high-quality celestite deposits, characterized by translucent crystals and a beautiful pale blue hue. The crystals in this geode are ivery glossy and clear, they show a color very close to blue topaz or aquamarine.
Celestite typically forms in cavities within sedimentary rocks, resulting from the precipitation of strontium sulfate under specific geological conditions. Interestingly, one industrial use of celestite is in the production of red pigments, despite its name evoking a celestial blue color.
