Pencil Urchin on brass base
PU1040-6
In Pacific sea urchins, it is the largest: the Phyllacanthus Imperialis, has a test (its body) that can reach 8cm. As for these big "pencils" it is of course about its spikes. And it can be seen from 0 to -70 meters in the Indo-Pacific zone and in Australia. This one comes from Cebu. It is a rather nocturnal animal that tries to be discreet during the day by remaining hidden under the rocks. This one will not be discreet at all, and looks like an underwater mine.
