Blue Apatite ball from Madagascar
PUMI2494
The Apatite, having various aspects and colours, was long confused with a wide variety of minerals, and its chemical composition was not determined until the end of the eighteenth century. It is for this reason that the German mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner gave him this name in 1786 which is inspired by the Greek Apatan («cheating»). In its massive opaque form, Apatite can be found on the five continents.
