This beautiful sea star with spikes is a Pentaceraster Alveolatus from the Philippines. It is part of the "cushion" starfish because its body is rather thick. This species includes an incredible variety of shimmering colors, since this one could very well be electric blue with the yellow heart and all its tips bright red, or entirely raspberry color... Because the colours of this species disappear with its death. But its spikes are still remarkable.
