Agate slice, flame shape
PUMI2504-1
This Brazilian flame ignites when the light passes through it (photos 2, 3 and 4). This natural stone is a slice of agate 20cm high. Initially, an air bubble formed a small pocket stuck in the cooled lava of a Brazilian volcano. Much later, water seeped into the porous lava, loaded with minerals and iron oxide. There have been several successive waves, with temperatures that have varied greatly. The result is stunning: a red line of iron oxide framing a rather milky Agate heart.
