This elegant black and white agate slice is Brazilian. It might evoke the coat of a Dalmatian dog, but the heart of this ancient geode was filled by successive infiltrations of water loaded with oxides, which filled it completely. The black irregular border that frames this slice was manganese-laden, with the fluid patterns and vibrant white shades in the centre, evoking an abstract painting shaped by nature. This is the result of a slow geological process, where silica has been deposited over millennia, creating these characteristic patterns of agate.
