Dinosaur bone sphere on a vertical brass-black stand
PUFO282-3
This 450g sphere was carved from a fossilized vertebra of a plesiosaur, a marine dinosaur measuring 8 meters long that lived during the Mesozoic Era, approximately 80 million years ago, in Madagascar. While the idea of sculpting a dinosaur bone may seem surprising, these fossilized bones come from specimens whose most valuable features have already been smoothed by the ocean, losing the details necessary for complete skeletal reconstruction.
The now-polished surface of this sphere may resemble an uninhabitable planet, yet it is carved from the very heart of this dinosaur bone: true “dinosaur marble.”
The vertical brass-black stand, exclusively designed by Objet de Curiosité, offers a sleek and elegant presentation, highlighting the sculptural nature of this exceptional piece.
