Red sea fan, black base

Gorgonians, like corals, are sessile colonial animals. Their polyps, each equipped with eight tentacles, capture plankton by filtering the water. Unlike reef-building corals, they do not require light to grow. Their skeleton, made of gorgonin, is both flexible and rigid, allowing them to withstand currents while maintaining a delicate appearance.
This red gorgonian, with re-boosted colors, has grown perpendicularly to the current, weaving a complex and intricate structure, almost like marine lace. Despite its apparent delicacy, it rests on a strong architectural framework— a perfect balance between solidity and fragility.
