Fossil Shark Tooth, otodus Obliquus, 10cm
PUFO492-1
This giant fossil shark tooth belonged to the species OTODUS OBLIQUUS, one of the major predators of the Paleocene and Eocene seas, around 50 to 60 million years ago. These sharks could grow up to 9 metres long, and their broad, pointed teeth clearly indicate a carnivorous diet. one of the largest for this species: 10cm from base to tip!
Here, the fossil is displayed under a small glass dome, resting on a brass stand with a slightly baroque elegance. A deliberately refined presentation, like a relic unearthed from an old cabinet of curiosities.
