Polished Malachite Slice – Katanga, Congo (approx. 200 g)
PUMI1989-6
This malachite slice comes from the Katanga province in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It has been polished on both sides to reveal the full range of green tones within—concentric rings, radial lines, and subtle variations that seem almost fluid.
It originates from a natural stalagmite formed in a cavity beneath a copper-rich ceiling. Over time, mineral-laden water slowly deposited layer upon layer, giving rise to this striking pattern.
The custom-designed mounting by Objet de Curiosité holds the slice in a minimalist circular brass frame set on a black base. A simple and elegant way to showcase the natural beauty of the specimen.
