Fragmented crab, oval glass, brass base.
PU1129-2
This big massive crab is the edible crab: the brown crab -Pagurus Cancer- But this one seems much more aerial than in the sea: it is displayed as an "exploded of Beauchêne". This scientific presentation consists in completely disarticulating this large crab to scrupulously reassemble it in the right order, but maintaining a space between each segment of its body. One can thus realize the large number of joints of its 8 legs: an inspiration for manufacturers of roboticd arms. These heavyweights of the crustacean family are found on all the coasts of the European coast, up to the Mediterranean. When the female lays, in winter, she hides without feeding until spring because she carries on her up to 20 million eggs!
