Ibacus ciliatus, the Japanese slipper lobster, is one of 90 species of sea cicadas on our planet. Cousin of the lobsters, it is much more flattened with a shell that extends beyond the animal itself. It is a carnivore that feeds on shellfish and oysters at depths between 50 and 350 meters. It is found in the western Pacific Ocean :Philippines, Korea and Japan. An area where it is fished for its taste qualities.
