This strange crab seems to have two capsules of medicine on the sides of its shell. The family Ixa, since that is its name, is quite small (less than 10 species). This Ixa Cylindrus, besides the unusual cracked shell appearance, the crab also sports two long cylindrical knobs that flank both sides of the animal., even with a red tip. An amazing shape for a fairly calm crab from the Philippines. We never tire of observing these three phenomena.
