This giant owl butterfly comes from Peru, and its large blue and yellow wings are hiden here, as you see it from under. Its larva, the caterpillar feeds on Heliconia flowers (false bird-of-paradise), a colorfull flower similar to banana trees flowers and that can be a problem as the Caligo Atreus can be a pest for banana plantations.
