This is a stone picture of a river's bottom from Tyrol mountains in Austria. This river (that we keep secret), near the town of Mariastein, is so much loaded with calcite, that it petrify all the leaves and pieces of wood that fall the water. This mineral is not a fossil: the leaves here are only 2 years old. But they are covered by a thin layer of small crystals of calcite, and they now are as hard as stone. They were not deliberately poured into the river. It is just a natural process! And you only need to know where to find them...
