Prehistoric bison leg

PUFO391-2

A fossilized prehistoric European bison - Bison Priscus- . This leg, the left metatarsus of a male dates from 10 000 to 200 000 years old: Pleistocene period. It was excavated in Poland in 2017 in a gravel pit. This species was much larger than the few surviving bison today: the wingspan of the horns could reach 140cm. It is an animal with an imposing mane, and with a very marked hump!. You can immagine how impressive it should have been, for the neanderthals hunters!
