Fossil fern In cage : PECOPTERIS POLYMORPHA
PUFO467-2
This fossil PECOPTERIS POLYMORPHA, dating back to the Carboniferous about 300 million years ago, was discovered in the mines of Montceau-les-Mines, France. These mines, formerly dedicated to coal mining, have preserved exceptional remains of ancient flora due to favorable geological conditions. PECOPTERIS POLYMORPHA belongs to a genus of ferns characteristic of this period, highlighting the abundance of plant life in swampy environments. Interesting contrast between the past of plant life and the modernity of its display in a rectangular wire cage. Part of a collection of the 70s, identified at that time.
