Snowflake Obsidian Sphere – Mexico- in spinning brass stand
PUMI2696
Obsidian is a volcanic rock formed by the ultra-rapid cooling of lava — so fast that no crystals have time to form. But occasionally, within this frozen chaos, tiny crystals of cristobalite (a type of silica) emerge, creating pale spots that resemble snowflakes. Hence the common name: snowflake obsidian.
This polished 7 cm sphere comes from Mexico, one of the few regions where this variety occurs naturally. The contrast between deep black and cloudy white patterns creates a striking mineral aesthetic.
Mounted on a rotating brass support, an exclusive Objet de Curiosité design, it looks like a miniature planet caught in a storm.
A mineral born of fire that gives the illusion of snow.
