8 Rainbow Locust (Phymateus saxosus)
IN143
Some think it's the most beautiful grasshopper in the world. Alive, its skin is yellow with blue stripes, some red spins on its head... and when it flies, its red wings add a touch to this natural rainbow. Only found in Madagascar, this locust says something with its colors: it's toxic! Because of the plant it feeds on, Milkweed plant (Asclepiade). The white sap of the plant is toxic, and so is the Phymateus Saxosus. But flying in group under glass makes them even more beautiful!
