Striped Jasper Sphere (Madagascar) - 7.6 kg
PUMI2714
This striped jasper comes from the southwest of Madagascar, a region known for its silica-rich sedimentary formations. Successive deposits, enriched with iron oxides, produced jaspers with sharp banding, highly regarded for the precision of their natural patterns.
Carved into a 7.6 kg sphere, this specimen displays concentric layers in shades of beige, grey and ochre. Depending on the angle, the design shifts: here, an “eye” emerges, showing how jasper reveals new images according to the viewer’s gaze and sensitivity.
The sphere rests on a black metal base, highlighted by a polished brass mount. A mineral curiosity and a true cabinet of curiosities specimen, combining geological structure with decorative elegance.
