Banded jasper from Madagascar - 18 kg

An object of desire. This 18 kg banded jasper comes from the southwest of Madagascar.Of course, this flame shape is not entirely natural, but it perfectly matches the incredible lines that formed this stone. Jasper, a microcrystalline variety of quartz, forms through successive deposits of silica and oxides that create regular bands and concentric circles. These mineral lines read like geological strata, frozen in stone.
Carved into a flame shape, the block takes on a sculptural presence. The natural curves of the jasper continue into this silhouette, giving the impression of movement held still.
