Labradorite slab – Madagascar – 55cm high
PUMI2690-2
This labradorite slab comes from the deposits near Maniry, in southwestern Madagascar—one of the island’s most renowned sources of high-quality feldspar. The name “labradorite” comes from the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, where the mineral was first identified in the 18th century. But Madagascar offers the most vivid specimens.
The stone has been fully polished on both faces, revealing the full effect of its labradorescence: shimmering flashes of blue, green, gold, and occasional violet. This slab is 55cm high, impressive!
