Cubic Pyrite in slate - Lourdes (France)
PUMI1552
Lourdes is the most famous place of pilgrimage for Catholics in France, especially because of the miracles that took place in this city. But there is also a slate mine in this city, because the traditional roofs of the mountain regions are covered with cut slate. And even if it’s not really a miracle, it happens from time to time that cubes of pyrite have grown in the middle of this slate. Pyrite: a golden natural stone, so golden, that the first prospectors to find this metal have literally gone mad with joy at the idea of their new fortune. But if it is not gold, it is a metal that is even more noticeable when it sprinkles the matt surface of the slate with its golden cubes.
