The sand Dollar is a curious member of the fragile family of echinoderms (sea urchins, starfishes) with a flattened and circular shell, decorated with a star. this species is Encope Emarginata, the keyhole sand dollar.We find them on the Mexican beaches where the dead shells are stranded and whiten in the sun. The sand dollar takes its name because of its similarity with an large coin lying on the sand.
