Selenite slab, Mexico
PUMI2745
Selenite slab. Sourced from the renowned mines of La platosa, in Durango state, Mexico, it displays a pearly sheen crossed by natural striations formed during the crystal’s slow growth.
The fibrous structure typical of selenite is clearly visible here: some layers appear slightly detached, giving the piece a subtly graphic texture. The irregular, unpolished edges are a reminder that this huge clear crystal was attached to its matrix, dating back to Mesozoic period.
