Selenite slab, Mexico –12.8KG.
PUMI2746
This large SELENITE slab impresses with both its size and its remarkable clarity. Sourced from the renowned mines of La platosa, in Durango state, Mexico, it displays a pearly sheen crossed by natural striations formed during the crystal’s slow growth.
The fibrous structure typical of selenite is clearly visible here: some layers appear slightly detached, giving the piece a subtly graphic texture. The irregular, unpolished edges are a reminder that this huge clear crystal was attached to its matrix, dating back to Mesozoic period.
A striking curiosity specimen, remarkable for its scale, translucency, and quiet mineral elegance.
Displayed on black metal.
