The largest type of crabs in the world! This Macrocheira Kaempferi, also called Japanese Spider Crab, has 296cm of leg span, in fact between his 2 claws... This species comes from the South East of Japan, and seems to live up to 100 years! Alive it weight around 20 Kg, and live usually quiet deep (300 to 600 meters deep), but during mating season (January to April) it reaches the shallower waters around 50 meters deep. And It is forbiden to catch them during that period. This adult male standing on a Tamarind wood ball reaches 178cm High. Though it has great ability, it has never been witnessed doing such a balancing act in the ocean!
