The Roseate Spoonbill -Platalea ajaja- is a South American wading bird that can be seen from Florida to Brazil. A pink distant cousin of the Pelicans, but with an odd flat bill used to strain small food items out of the water. This curious specimen lived in a European zoo untill last year.
