Chrysanthemum stone in matrix
PUMI1749-2
This amazing white star on a black background looks a lot like an edelweiss, yet artists from the Hubei province in China see a Chrysanthemum flower. This is a radial crystallization of white Calcite and Aragonite in a softer limestone matrix. The contrast between this white flower and the matrix is slightly improved (the limestone matrix is darkened). They even manage to carve in relief a chrysanthemum flower from this natural crystallization, but it becomes more a sculpture than a natural curiosity.
