Pink halite - Mojave desert- on brass base (2.8kg)

These cubic crystals are American. They come from the Mojave desert in California. The pink Halite is made of Sodium Chloride -rock salt- but it's color is due to a microscopic, salt-loving bacteria, called halobacteria. Those crystals had to grow slowly, for Halite and under a crust of evaporated salt, to protect from the maximum heat of those ancient lake.
