Agate slice on black base

Brazilian Agate with black border. Cut into thin slices, it becomes translucent and lets the light pass through. We can see the different stages of its growth, materialized by the layers successively deposited in this ancient geode, specially loaded with manganese oxide on the first layers, which gave this black color, but this one is remarkable for the inclusions of Chlorite - an alumino-silicate mineral- which created this layer of green flakes in quartz, all around an open geode.
