Smoky quartz – Brazil
PUMI2723
This smoky quartz comes from Brazil. It is completely natural and has not be re-polished at all. Its dark brown tone results from natural irradiation within the surrounding granite, which gradually altered the crystal’s colour centres over millions of years.
The specimen shows a main prism with a sharp termination, accompanied by a secondary twin crystal that developed from the same growth zone. This kind of formation, marked by slight offsets and intergrown angles, is typical of quartz twinning. The lighter areas near the base indicate regions that remained more protected within the host rock and thus became less smoky.
Displayed on a black base, this collector’s mineral is a true natural curiosity, made to stand proudly on the shelves of your cabinet of curiosities.
