The common green birdwing, as indeed this large butterfly is almost the size of a bird, and the forewings - so incredibly green- have an unusual long shape. Only the males are so bright: females are even larger, but dark brown. And this butterfly is not so common, as it can only be seen in a small part of the world: Salomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, South Molucca... Where their natural forrest are getting more narrow year after year. That's why they are a protected species, coming with a CITES. And as they are so incredible, our Ornithoptera Priamus are now farmed directly in Indonesia.
