Fossil coral from Florida 2.5Kg on brass base
PUFO380
The Florida's state stone, is a 25 million years old coral: Montastrea , mostly found near Tampa Bay, in ancient ocean beds where silica rich groundwater has percolated through them and over time has replaced the coral calcium carbonate skeleton with a hard variety of Chalcedony. The result is a stony coral shape outside that we cut in two, and discover an agatized inside in golden tones. Some changing color, milky blue hues are visible on this one. It is a tall piece, and the 2 halves can even slide along each other to go from the full shape to 2 different pieces.
